Weather update : Thunder Storm and Rain in many parts of India

Delhi Weather Update
On Friday evening, winds gusting up to 84 kmph lashed Delhi, halting flights, disrupting power supply and jamming roads. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said relief from the heat is likely on Saturday as well.
Delhi weather: Wind speed and temperature
The wind speed was recorded at 84 kmph in southwest Delhi, 74 kmph near the airport and 70 kmph at Pragati Maidan. Light rain was also recorded – 5 mm in Narela and 2.5 mm in Pitampura.
The storm caused a significant drop in temperatures. Safdarjung saw a drop from 39.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday to 35.8 degrees Celsius on Friday. Lodhi Road saw a sharp drop from 31 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius within 30 minutes after 6.15 pm.
Delhi weather: Cause of the storm
IMD scientists said the storm was caused by a western disturbance. “Dry mid-level winds clashed with moist lower-level winds blowing in from the Arabian Sea,” an IMD scientist said. “This created ideal conditions for thunderstorms.”
Power supply disrupted
The storm caused power lines to snap as trees fell in several areas. BSES and Tata Power-DDL said their teams were dispatched to restore power supply but work is on in Narela, Bawana.

IMD forecasts rain, thunderstorms and heatwaves in Delhi, Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam, Kerala and other states this week
